Dog park & Chow Chows!

Visited the dog park again at Desa Park City, this time with a few friends.

Wei Siang and his maltese, Rusky, happily on the way to the park.

Came across many different types of dog breeds as seen in this video and enjoyed our time together catching up while the doggies were busy playing with each other.

Oh yes, we also came across a Chow Chow.

For those who have not seen a Chow Chow before, it actually looks like a cuddly teddy bear! This is why it is actually known as the 'Fluffy Lion Dog'. It is known as an ancient breed originating from China, since it's roots go back to more than 4,000 years.

A distinctive feature of Chow Chow's are their tongue colour, which is a purplish-blackish colour. For Chow Chow's that do not have this unique tongue colour indicates that they are not a pure breed, unless they are new born Chow Chow's, their tongue colour is pink and will change within a few months.

Since the Chow Chow's coat is very thick, it requires great care. Chow Chow's must be bathed at lease once a month and brushed weekly to prevent heavy shedding. It is also important that the fur near their eyes are regularly cut to make sure it does not impair their vision.

So, for those thinking of getting a Chow Chow, prepare to be kept on your feet taking care of their soft yet thick coat.
