Sugar Gliders

For those of you who have not heard of an animal called the 'sugar glider', this is it!

They are little adorable nocturnal creatures that can glide, literally spread the skin between their forelegs and hind legs and glide through the air, something like a flying squirrel.

As the name 'sugar' glider suggests, they prefer sweet nectarous food, like fresh fruits, tree sap and vegetables. Oh since they are omnivores, they also feed on insects such as meal worms and crickets as a source of protein.

This is Aino, a baby sugar glider, isn't she adorable?

Just the size of a thumb!

They love snuggling anywhere warm and cosy, whether its in their owners' palms or under their shirts, they love the warmth. Also, since sugar gliders rely on their sense of smell to distinguish their owners from strangers, it is a must to spend quality time playing with the gliders each day to establish a bond.
