Rusky the Maltese

Maltese's are small breed dogs categorized under toy dogs. It was originally known as a dog for the royal, being a companion for wealthy, fashionable ladies all over the Mediterranean and Britain. Currently, it is one of the most popular toy breeds.

This is Rusky, a friend of ours got him when he was just a 5 month old puppy.

If not trimmed, their white long silky fur can grow to the ground. However, they do not shed very much, so they are very suitable for those who have allergies and even kids. They can grow up to about 25cm in height and weigh only 3-4 kg. Maltese dogs are very playful, yet gentle and easy to train. Thus, they are great for families.

However, due to their immense amount of energy, owners should spend about 10 minutes everyday playing with them, whether its fetching a toy or taking it for a short walk, though they can even meet the exercise requirement indoors. Coming to that, Maltese dogs are well suited for condo living as they do not need much space to stay active and their small size would not turn the house upside-down. If taken care well, these dogs can live up to 18 years.
